Balanced Viscosity Solutions to a Rate-Independent Coupled Elasto-plastic Damage System

چکیده

A rate-independent model coupling small-strain associative elasto-plasticity and damage is studied via a vanishing-viscosity analysis with respect to all the variables describing system. This extends performed for same system in [V. Crismale G. Lazzaroni, Calc. Var. Partial Differential Equations, 55 (2016), 17], where regularization involving only variable was set forth. In present work, an additional approximation featuring vanishing plastic hardening introduced order deal viscosity variable. Different regimes are considered, leading different notions of Balanced Viscosity solutions perfectly system, its version hardening.

Balanced Viscosity (bv) Solutions to Infinite-dimensional Rate-independent Systems

Balanced Viscosity solutions to rate-independent systems arise as limits of regularized rate-independent flows by adding a superlinear vanishing-viscosity dissipation. We address the main issue of proving the existence of such limits for infinite-dimensional systems and of characterizing them by a couple of variational properties that combine a local stability condition and a balanced energy-di...

Balanced-viscosity Solutions for Multi-rate Systems

Several mechanical systems are modeled by the static momentum balance for the displacement u coupled with a rate-independent flow rule for some internal variable z. We consider a class of abstract systems of ODEs which have the same structure, albeit in a finite-dimensional setting, and regularize both the static equation and the rate-independent flow rule by adding viscous dissipation terms wi...

Bv Solutions and Viscosity Approximations of Rate-independent Systems

In the nonconvex case solutions of rate-independent systems may develop jumps as a function of time. To model such jumps, we adopt the philosophy that rate independence should be considered as limit of systems with smaller and smaller viscosity. For the finite-dimensional case we study the vanishing-viscosity limit of doubly nonlinear equations given in terms of a differentiable energy function...

Modeling and Simulation of Elasto-Plastic Multibody Systems with Damage

Flexible multibody systems are studied where plasticity is induced by inertial forces. Such a situation may occur when the stiffness of a structure is weakened by an operation under catastrophic environmental conditions. To analyze this phenomenon, plane motions of beam elements with large rigid body motion and moderately large deformation are considered. The equations of motions for the proble...
